Have you heard of the Blu-ray? We had heard vaguely a few years ago but it was not until a friend asked us to me and two others, shopping advice on this technological breakthrough, which put more interest in the matter, as my friend had heard that offers all a new home theater experience.

It turns out that Blu-ray are records high-definition playback capable of storing up to 50 GB of information (as opposed to DVDs that store up to 4.7 GB only) on a dual-layer disc.

Its name comes from the technology used for storage which is the using a blue beam of 450 nanometers wide, which differs substantially from the 650 that uses the red ray DVD. This can make maximum use of recording disks whose capacity usually reaches the 8.5 GB double layer. Continue reading →
